Places to Visit

INFORMATION ABOUT THE AREA
There is magic in the air in Llanddeusant with legends like the “Physicians of Myddfai” and the “Lady of the Lake”. You can visit the Carreg Cennen Castle which appeals to young and old alike.
Red kites are a frequent sight of daily life in this part of the world. There is even a kite feeding station near the pub (Cross Inn) approximately two miles away (even walking distance by footpath). A pub lunch can be enjoyed then a visit to the kite feeding station and then a slow romantic walk back to the barn where you can relax in front of a roaring fire.
There are ancient woods, wildflowers and fast running streams. All sorts of other activities are available close by, mountain biking, horse riding, canoeing, fishing even paragliding and indoor climbing.
The National Park Information Centre at Llandovery can give you all the information you need about what you can do in the Brecon Beacons & Carmarthenshire. (There are also leaflets on activities located at the property).

THE WELSH LANGUAGE
We are a Welsh speaking family therefore you can expect a truly Welsh welcome. Welsh is one of the oldest living languages in Europe and has one of the longest literary traditions. The oldest surviving book of venocular Welsh poetry was transcribed at Carmarthen Priory around 1200 – 1250. There is a book at Nantifan “The Learners Dictionary” which will be useful to learn Welsh Phrases and a copy of the Welsh Anthem.
Welsh is a vibrant language and is still spoken naturally by 55% of Carmarthenshires population. Once you have entered Carmarthenshire you will notice that all directional signposts are bilingual, Welsh first followed by the English version of the place name.
